We have had a lot of snow falling in Western Pennsylvania this year. I feel like every day there is some sort of white precipitation coming from the sky, creating a picturesque winter landscape that transforms our surroundings into a serene wonderland. The snowflakes dance gracefully as they descend, covering everything open to its arrival, muffling sounds and bringing with it memories of childhood. It’s a season where the beauty of nature is on full display, as the trees become adorned with freshly fallen snow, and the air is crisp and clean smelling.
I remember being young and going outside in the evening, adorned in my full body snow suit, and laying on the cold, powdery snow, mouth wide open catching snowflakes as they danced down from the sky, and making snow angels with my outstretched arms. There was something so serene and peaceful about the falling snow, transforming the world around me into a winter wonderland. It has a sound all of its own, a soft whisper that muffled the usual evening noises. The night seemed brighter as the moonlight reflected off of the snow. Winter was highly anticipated as a child.
Now that I am “older,” I don’t really enjoy going out in the snow as much as I did when I was a child. As I observe the winter wonderland, I now debate on whether or not I want to go brave the outdoors and risk sliding on the ice, being attacked by an icicle hanging over my door frame, and freezing, or just stay inside snuggled in my warm blanket.

As I sit here looking out my window at my snowy landscape, I am reminded of Isaiah 55:10-11:
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it produce and sprout, and providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.”
But What Does This Mean?
As I started to meditate on this verse, God began to enlighten me about its meaning. I remember homeschooling my youngest son and teaching him about the water cycle in science. Water evaporates and rises. It then condenses from the cooling of the air and forms clouds. After this, it falls back to the earth in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail. The precipitation waters the earth making it produce and sprout and provides seed for the sower.
The same is true with God’s Word. It comes from God for a specific purpose and will never fail to achieve what God has destined it to achieve. It will return back to God accomplishing what it was sent to accomplish. The NKJV says it will “prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” God’s word will produce a harvest in our lives if we allow it to. We need to begin to learn to speak the Word of God over our situations. But in order to speak it, we need to be reading and learning the Word of God.
My Life Example
I remember a time in my life when I was dealing with a lot of fear and anxiety. I was experiencing panic attacks at least once a day. This seemed to go on for months. I would try to pray and beg God to remove this from me, but I felt like my prayers were just bouncing off of the wall. Have you ever been there? Everything I seemed to be doing to escape this vicious cycle didn’t seem to work. I was crying out to God to give me some sort of peace, but I couldn’t understand why I was still suffering from this anxiety.
It wasn’t until I finally got quiet with the Lord that I became aware of what He wanted me to do. I began to change my thoughts by meditating on Bible verses that spoke about what I was going through. I then turned those verses into prayers and began to speak out the Word of God. Something changes in the atmosphere when we hear the Word being spoken. Hebrews 4:12 says: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
There is power in speaking out the Word of God. It is alive and active!
Verses I Personalized
Here are 14 personal verses I personalized to aid in praying scripture over my situation.
Deuteronomy 31:6. This is a good one to pray any time you are feeling fearful or anxious. “I am strong and courageous. I will not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD my God who goes with me. He will not leave me or forsake me.”
Isaiah 41:10 “I will not fear because God is with me, I will not be dismayed because He is my God. He is strengthening me, helping me, and holding me up with His righteous right hand.”
2 Timothy 1:7 “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind. God gave me a sound mind.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “I am not anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I present my requests to God; and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.”
1 Peter 5:7 “I cast all my anxiety on Him because He cares for me.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “I trust in the Lord with all my heart and do not lean on my own understanding; in all my ways I submit to Him and He makes my paths straight.”
Deuteronomy 3:22 “I shall not fear them, for it is the LORD my God who fights for me.”
Joshua 1:9 “I am strong and courageous. I do not fear and am not in dread because the LORD God goes with me. He will not leave me or forsake me.”
Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Psalm 94:19 “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”
Psalm 118:6-7 “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
Psalm 138:8 “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
John 14:27 “Jesus leaves His peace with me. He doesn’t give as the world gives. I will not allow my heart to be troubled or afraid.”
Personalizing and speaking these verses out loud began to bring healing and peace to my mind. I had to learn that by battles are fought by speaking out the Word of God. When the enemy came in like a flood and lied to me, I quoted scripture. The victory didn’t come overnight, but it came. I had to change a lot of my mindsets before I was healed of the extreme anxiety and panic attacks. Since my accident, I have had to remind myself to get back into speaking out the Word.
The Promise of God’s Word
If we continue reading Isaiah 55, we see in verse 12 that the promise of God’s Word comes to pass.
“For you will go out with joy, and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills will break into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
God’s word will not return to Him empty or void. He promises to give us joy and peace. What promises of God do you need to stand on today? Believe and confess His word and you will harvest joy, peace, and songs of praise. Think about it. God’s word is sent from heaven going to the one He gave His promise to (which is us) and returns back to heaven with our songs of praise and thanksgiving to Him. Jeremiah 1:12 says that God is watching over His word to perform it.
Conclusion
God’s word will not fail! It will not fail in the prophecies given and it will not fail in His promises to you! What He sends His word to do, will be done. Praise Him until His word comes to pass in your life. many times He will cause us to have a season of waiting to see if we will remain faithful to Him. Praise Him while you are waiting for His word to accomplish what He sent it to do in your life. I will leave you with this verse:
“So do ot throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. ” Hebrews 10:35-39
Don’t throw away your confidence! God’s word will not return void in your life. I pray that you will be able to find joy in today.
