Find Joy In Today

Today I am joining with the #FiveMinuteFriday group of writers to write for five minutes on a one word prompt. This week’s word prompt is: SATISFIED

As soon as I read this week’s word my mind went right to evaluating my past year. I began to ask questions like: Am I satisfied with the amount of time I spent with the Lord? Am I satisfied with my prayer life and the amount of time I spent in worship?

If I can be candidly honest, I can do better. I can not honestly say that I gave God 100%. Oftentimes, life got in the way and interrupted my daily reading or pray time. It is rather sad to say and then I wonder why I deal with so much anxiety and fear at times. I’m sure you have experienced the same scenario.

Matthew 5:6 says:

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Our hearts will never be truly satisfied until we are hungering and thirsting for God. It is in this deep spiritual craving that we discover God’s will for our lives and satisfaction for our souls. This hungering desire for God causes us to cling to Him and seek a closer relationship with Him. The more we yearn for His presence, the more we understand the profound love and grace that He offers to those who seek Him earnestly.

When we seek after the things of this world, it only causes pain, frustration, anxiety, and fear. The world will not satisfy us. We can only be satisfied by seeking and pursuing God.
